Hybrid Learning Grants Utilize AI to Enhance Course Design and Student Learning

Led by instructional designers Yan Shen and Christine Cranford, the grant projects evolved from using ChatGPT prompt templates to developing custom GPTs that address specific learning challenges. Current projects include AI assistants for reflective journaling, accounting problem-solving, biochemistry concept clarification and engineering application.

Meet Faculty Fellow Jill Jones

As a Faculty Fellow, Jones aims to foster effective learning communities and incorporate mental wellness concepts. She brings valuable experience to her role as a DELTA Faculty Fellow — a background as an elementary teacher, literacy specialist and literacy coach. Jones teaches reading methods courses while helping colleagues integrate instructional technology effectively.

Faculty Members Highly Recommend DELTA’s Course Improvement Grants

These grants continue to transform teaching at NC State through collaborative design and Quality Matters standards. Faculty members like Teaching Professor Shweta Trivedi and retired Assistant Teaching Professor Peter Hessling report significant improvements in student engagement and performance after participating. The program has certified 75 courses across all NC State colleges, reaching over 14,000 students annually.

DELTA Grants LAR 221 Project: An Invitation to Walk in the Park

Through collaboration with DELTA, two NC State instructors transformed their approach to teaching biophilic urban design. Their innovative project features a detailed virtual replica of the Kids Together Playground, allowing users to explore the park environment from both adult and toddler viewpoints.

Ungrading: Empowering Student Success through Feedback and Reflection
